Intrigue c. 1984

Guilty! The call from the Gallery-
Above Him were beings in Between.
Order! Bellowed the Bench pounding-
Thinking now why He did not change.
Objection! Shouted the willful Defense-
The box around him grew much smaller.
Sustained, whispered the Bench now quiet-
Thoughts corralled not getting out.
Continue reminded the Robe of Black.
Wonder how he would look periwigged?
Answer! Demanded the Persecution in turn.
Alas, what about number five?
Contempt! Bailiffs take him away.
Locked now somewhere behind bars:
Pigeon! Forget to sing? He whistled.
Contemptible Pig! Go somewhere and squeal!
Boxcar! Let’s go loosen that tongue.
Returning molars and incisors in pain.
Speak? Inquired the Robe in the chamber-
Negative nods incite misplaced anger.
Why not? No compassion in his eyes,
Instead returning the question, Why?
